The Past 新加坡摄影的历史

The earliest photographic organization in Singapore is Strait Photographic Association, established in 1887. The first president is D. C. Neave, the founder of F&N Company. Address is at Hill Street. In 1894, the members have already started to participate in international competition. They sent their photographic works to Indonesia, Jakarta and won prizes in the competition.
新加坡最早的摄影团体是1887 年成立的名叫海峡摄影学会 , 首届主席是花沙尼汽水公司的创办人尼夫 ( D.C.NEAVE). 会址在嘻街 ( HILL STREET ) . 1894年已有会员将会员作品寄往加尔各答和印尼的巴达维亚 ( 即今耶卡达 ), 参加国际影展而且得奖 ;

In 1924, the Singapore Camera Club was established. In 1926, an exhibition was set up by the Japanese Club at Selegie Road. The works on displayed were mostly from overseas Japanese since many of the members are Japanese. Doctor Xie Wen Long is the only Singaporean who won a prize. The winner works were put up on the Straits Magazine on the issue 15 July, 1926. In 1930s, Singaporeans who involved in photography includes Doctor Xie Wen Long, Doctor Lin Tian Bao, Banker Zhou Fu Long and Ke Shou Zhi. Mr Ke is the first Singaporean who won the A.R.P.S. In 24 March 1935, there was an Overseas Photographic Exhibition in Singapore. It included a total of 83 works from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia. The exhibition took place in Edward Prince Road. It was opened by Dr Tiao Zuo Qian, the China Embassador in Singapore..
1 9 2 4 年新加坡摄影俱乐部成立 ( SINGAPORE CAMERA CLUB ) , 1 9 2 6 年在实利基路 ( SELEGIE ROAD ) 日本人的俱乐部里还举行了一次公开影展 . 展出的作品多是日本侨民 . 会员也多是日本人 . 谢文龙医生是唯一得奖的新加坡人 . 得奖的作品还都刊登在 1926 年 7 月15 日海峡时报周刊上 ; 1930 年代 , 新加坡从事摄影的人 , 有谢文龙医生 , 林天保医生 , 银行家周福隆和柯守智 . 柯 先生还是新加坡人获得英国皇家摄影学会会士名衔 (A.R.P.S.) 的第一人 ; 1935 年 3 月 24 日 , 新加坡有一个 <华侨摄影展览会> , 展出来自本地 , 香港 , 及马来亚共 83 幅作品 , 展出地点在爱德华太子路道 , 中国驻新加坡总领事刁作谦博士主持开幕式 .

Today, there are 5 official Photographic Organizations:
目前新加坡的摄影组织 , 正式有向社团注册局注册的有五个 :

2. THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY OF SINGAPORE新加坡摄影学会: Established in July 1950. Initially, the name is SINGAPORE CAMERA CLUB . In 1952, the club's address is at 57 , PHENG GEOK AVENUE , SINGAPORE 348252. It was then shifted to the present location: 6 LORONG 7, GEYLANG # 01-00 , SINGAPORE 388790 .正式成立于1950 年 7 月 , 开始时英文名字是 SINGAPORE CAMERA CLUB .1952 年的会所在 57 , PHENG GEOK AVENUE , SINGAPORE 348252. 目前的会址是 : 6 LORONG 7, GEYLANG # 01-00 , SINGAPORE 388790 .

These 5 Photographic Organizations were first started up by a group of photography lovers. Except the Persatuan Fotografi Melayu Singapore, which is for Malay only, all the other organizations welcome members regardless of races. The organizers of these groups are not full-time in photography professionals. They have to take care of both trivial and non-trivial tasks in the associations. Fortunately, all are contributing willingly to the clubs.

新加坡这五个摄影艺术团体 , 从开始就是由一群摄影爱好者 ,摄影艺追求者组织起来的 . 除新加坡马来摄影学会是属单一的马来族群的摄影会之外 ,各个摄影会都 不分种族 ( 华 族 , 马来族 ,印度族 .. ) , 不分各种文化源流都能参加的摄影团体 . 其次这些团体的负责 人大多数的职业和工作都不是 "搞摄影 " . 他们在这些团体里义务担任所有的会务工作 ,有的还要兼扫地的工作 . 同时还常常要为维持会务活动不负的开销而烦恼 ,每每还要由会的负责人自掏腰包 . 虽然如此 ,值得庆幸 , 大家都无怨无倦 , 前仆后继 ,运作下去 . 其对会 ,对社会也算是一种奉献 .

In additional to these 5 organizations, we also have photography clubs in all the Universities and Polytechnics. Many Secondary schools, People Association also have photography societies. For example, Boon Lay Photography Art Centre, Ayer Kreta Photography Art Centre, SAFRA Photography Association, ROLLEI Club, CONTEX Club, KONICA Club. As Singapore grows, the life here is getting more and more comfortable. Nowadays, every household has a camera. More people treat photography as their hobby, also they are starting to join photography clubs that they like. If you look at it carefully, all societies has its unique characteristics. Different societies are absorbing people from different background. This is definitely good for our photography.

除了这五个摄影团体 ,我们还有各个大专学府里的摄影学会 , 许多中学也有摄影组织 ;人 民协会属下的民众联络所 , 有许多也有摄影的组织 , 例如 : 文礼联络所摄影艺术中心, 牛车水民众联络所摄影俱乐部 .......... 等等 ; 隶属战备军人协会的战备军协摄影俱乐部 ; ROLLEI 俱乐部 , CONTEX 俱 乐部 , KONICA 俱乐部 ..等等 . 这些组织都有它隶属的后台组织 , 一般上他们经济不必有如五大摄影学会那样有很大的 , 全面的负担 . 因此也就多少有了局限性 . 他们的上头是要统畴各方和须顾全大局 ,不能只有一昧 "摄影 " . 随着我国经济发展 , 人们生活越来越好 , 家家户户都有相机 , 而把摄影当嗜好的也逐渐增多 , 一开头很多乐于 "拍照 "的 , 就会投进自认为最适合的摄影组织里去 . 五大摄影学会 , 与众多的各方面的摄影组织 , 所吸收的会员 , 如果认真仔细分析, 当然都有它的特点 . 不过 , 这样我们的队伍由各方吸收汇聚 , 共同培养 , 肯定对我们新加坡的摄影事业更为 有利 . 会起很好的相辅相成 , 互补不足的作用 .

If we could complement each other, the photography organizations in Singapore will be full of driving force. For example the big event "Singapore Today" organized by The Society of Worldwide Ethnic Chinese Photographs. It enables all photographers and photography societies to participate in this meaningful activity.

如果大家配搭得好 , 新加坡的摄影艺术组织活动 , 相信是会更充满活力. 就好像我国新闻与艺术部促成 "世界华人摄影学会 "在我国举行 <今日新加坡 >的大型摄影活动 , 让新加坡的各个摄影会和摄影家们 , 有一个机会参与 . 完成新加坡有史以来 , 摄影界未曾有过的一个很有启发性 , 影响深远 , 意义深长的活动 .

Singapore's Photographic Art - The "International Salon"新加坡的摄影艺术 -- 唯 "国际沙龙 " 独领风骚 !

Starting from the first Photograpy Society in Singapore, more and more societies were established. In order to gain the prestige, many of them have "International Salon" as their main objective. This idea has been grounded until today. Since years ago, a set of well-defined rules and policies were established for the International Salon by the Photographic Society of America and UK Royal Photography Society (Honorary A.RPS, F.RPS). Photography fans world-wide take pride if their works are chosen. They can even apply the 1-star, 2-star... 5-star award from the Photography Society of America.

打从新加坡有摄影学会开始 , 陆陆续续几十年 , 先后有好多摄影学会成立, 每个摄影学会成立后 , 为表示会的成长和够 "格 " , 大家都以办 < 国际沙龙 > 为目标 . 此观念一直沿袭至今 .
很久以来 ,英国的英国皇家摄影学会的荣衔 A.RPS , F.RPS ; 和美国的美国摄影学会的国际沙龙制度 , 及颁衔制度 , 办得很好 . 如 : 订定接受承认的世界各地要办国际沙龙必须遵守的条例 ; 世界各地的摄影艺术爱好者都以投其国际沙龙而能入选而感到傲骄 . 常年累月累积多了, 也就可以向美国摄影学会 (PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY OF AMERICA ) 申请荣衔 , 例如 : 一星 , 二 星 , .. 五星等等 . 所以 , 几十年来它不知吸引了多少醉心的摄影爱好者 , 又不知有多少摄影爱好者对她痴迷 . 世界各地的摄影艺术团体 也都接受的制度和办法 , 纷纷依样举办各自的 "国际沙龙 " . 由此 , 世界各国的摄影学会都采此制度办"国际沙龙 " , 我们新加坡也不另外 . 现在我们的新加坡 , 五大摄影学会及文礼联络所摄影中心 , 有的是每年 , 有的是每两年举办 这样的 "国际沙龙 " . 因此 , 我们有时也常会碰到 , 一年里头就有好几个 ( 由各个摄影团体主办 ) 的 "国际 沙龙 " .

Thus, the photographic societies from all over the world have their own International Salon Exhibitions. Singapore is of no exception. Today, in Singapore, our 5-big Photography Organizations and Boon Lay Photography Centre launch the Salon exhbition either once or twice per year. It is becoming one of the most important events in respective societies. The event ables photography lovers to exchange and share their experience. It also serves as a tool to upgrade ones photographic technique.

新加坡五大摄影学会 ,每个都已办过很多届的 "国际沙龙 "了 .同时 , 还会乐此不疲地会再办下去 , 新加坡的 "国际沙龙 "在国际上 ,也已经 "奠定 " 了它的地位 . "国际沙龙 "就这样,几十年来 , 依然在世界各地 , 也在新加坡独领风骚了! 每个摄影学会既都有举办"国际沙龙 ", 甚且与 "国际沙龙 " 已是个解不了的缘 . 因为 "国际沙龙 "已是它们最重点的会务活动项目之一 . 其实 , 过去它也成为会与会员及与各地摄影家们沟通与观摩交流的唯一的媒体和口径 , 以促进与各地的摄影界的互相了解 ; 同时 , "国际沙龙 ",也已被认为是摄影爱好者初次 涉入时 , 先必踏过的门槛 , 也是作为鉴定自己的摄影水平工具 .如说它也已渗透了, 和主宰了新加坡各个摄影学会的会务活动 以及日常的摄影生活 , 也不为过的 .

Long Tail... Shocking Honorary!长长的尾巴 ..... 吓人的荣衔 !

Be it the photographer from Singapore or Hong Kong or other countries, you will notice that after a period of time, there is a long tail behind their name, it's a whole list of honorary. This long tail, the shocking honorary is the result of their hard work. They sent their photographic works to various International Salon and apply to honorary from different societies. Do you know how much effort they have put it? It's really respectful

不论新加坡或香港的摄影家们 , 甚至世界各地的摄影家们 , 经过了一段的蘑练后 , 你就会发觉他们的名字后面 , 慢慢地 , 逐渐地 , 增加了一个又一个的荣衔 . 于是 , 名字的后面有了一条长长的尾这 . 这是他们常年累月 , 十年如一日般地 , 乐此不疲地 , 投寄各地的国际沙龙和投考各个会的荣衔所获的成果 . 长长的尾巴 , 吓人的荣衔 . 实值得人们敬佩 . 你知道吗 ? 他们所付出的心血 , 所付出的代价有多高吗 ?

过去 , 新加坡摄影界中 , 如果考得一个荣衔 ( 如 A.R.P.S.), 或获得一个国际沙龙锦标 ( 如金,银,铜牌 ) , 是一椿大事 . 摄影界里私底下消息即刻就不胫而走 , 一下子摄影界里 , 人人都知到了 .

长长的尾巴的人当时也非常少 . 尾巴有一两个荣衔的人 , 都会受摄影界人的尊崇 . 然而 , 今天新加坡摄影界的情况都已经改观 . 现在 , 有两三个荣衔的已多如 , 再长的尾巴 , 也为数不少 . 入们也都见多了. " 长长的尾巴 .... 吓人的荣衔 ! "也已不如以前那麽样会吓人 , 也只能说是摄影界人一种心态的反应 .
