Does it Make Sense? 象话吗 ?
Since I had an internet account on 8 March 1996, I started to set up my personal WEB page. Using mainly photos, this WEB page recorded my photographic works; my sole exhibitions; my activities and meeting with friends from local and overseas photographic societies.
从 1996 年 3 月 8 日起 , 我有了电脑联网 , 网际网络 . 我将自己的摄影艺术创作 ; 到各地举行 的个展 ; 国内外进行的交流活动 ; 以及历次参加的包括国际间 , 或区域性的摄影组织会议等等的活动 . 都以摘要的影象( 相片 ) 作为档案收入 .
I fell in love with photographic art years back. I feel that it is very memorable to capture traces of my photographic activities for these years by this means. It's reminiscent. When I look at these photos now, I recall the scenes, the thing and my dear friends from all over the world who are popular people in various professions. It is like a blink of light, SIGN OF THE TIMES, which brings me back to the history.
我认为这是自己几十年爱上的摄影艺术 , 留下来的 , 仅有的是这 一点点儿的影迹 , 很有纪念性 ; 我珍惜它 , 尤其 , 我不能忘记在那几十年的摄影生活里 , 活动的轨迹上留下的东西 --- 不论是创作 , 即使是各个活动中人和事物 的影象, 都是那历程应时产生的事件中所留下的印迹 . 我深深感 到 : 也像是我在那各个时候的一瞬间 , 闪出的一道亮光 --- SIGN OF THE TIMES .
I am very involved in photography. On the one hand, as a Singaporean, I am concerned about my own country. That's why I tried to know more about local photographic activities. On the other hand, I also participate in the photographic organization activities in Asia, especially in China. It is reflected from the photos that the Asian are working very hard for their future photographic goal. It's true in the past, as well as now. How about in future? It should be optimistic!
但进入了历史 . 留下来的这些像片 , 除了创作 , 都是我当时参与各方面的摄影活动 , 工作时留下的记录 . 时过境迁 , 现在看了也使人回味无穷 . 我永远不能忘怀的 , 是影像中的人和事物 . 他们许多都是各地区的 , 各方面的杰出人物 , 他们都曾作出了贡献 . 而每当我再观看过去的这些像片时 , 总会把那相片里蕴藏着的故事 , 一一掀开呈现在眼前 ....
This is my hard work in the photographic world. I will remember: The part the I played is when I am the committe of The Photo-Art Association of Singapore. In this period, I am involved in the committe, leading the group; as well as improved my technique in photo-taking. Doing all these required a lot of sacrifice. However, when I looked back now, it's in fact worth the effort and it is fun.
因为我涉入摄影很深 , 也主要是我参加了一些亚洲的摄影活动 , 一方面我关心我国和尽量了解本国 的摄影情况 , 另一方面 , 接触和参与亚州摄影组织活动也多了, 尤其和中国 , 进行的摄影交流不少 . 在这许多相片事迹的记录里 , 多少也可以看到 : 亚州的人们都在为未来的摄影事业积极勤奋耕耘 . 过去是这样 , 现在是这样 , 将来 ..... . 未来如何 ? 相信应该是乐观的 !
Today, I am putting all these in the internet, the World-Wide-WEB. I will let it surfed by people from all over the world. I sincerely hope to share my experience with all and also to encourage myself.
这算是我过去对影艺的沉迷和作出努力的一项记录 . 我也会记住 : 我在那里所扮演的角色 , 大都是新加坡影艺研究会 ( THE PHOTO-ART ASSOCIATION OF SINGAPORE ) 在任职时的工作任务 . 既作摄影活动 , 又作摄影创作 . 虽然参与的当时都要有所付出 . 然现在看来 , 也非枉然 . 实为人生一大乐也 ! 今天我把它投入网际网络的大海洋 , 无非是要让它飘洋过海 , 和大家分享 , 以勉励自己 . 鼓励有志的同道 . 并诚恳衷心 , 和大家交流 . 向大家请教 . 也希望抛砖引玉 .
Trip to FuJian (February 1998) 福 建 之 行(1998 年 2 月)
In early February 1998, during Lunar New Year, I went to FuJian to participate in the photography outing organized by the FuJian Youth Photography Society. Oversea photographers invited included one of my good friends: Taiwan Photogaphy Association's Honory Chairman Mr Weng Ting Hua. I reached XiaMen on February 7. The Chairman from the FuJian Youth Photograpy Society Mr Zhu Qing Fu and Chen Yi picked me up at the airport. Mr Zhu is the supervisor from the photography section of XiaMen Ri Bao (Newspaper). He seems to be very energetic and sincere. That night, XiaMen Literature Art Society's Vice President, Mr Xu Li, invited us for a dinner. They are all energetic young people! See photo below:
1998 年 2月 初 , 正 值 农 历 新 年 期 间 , 我 如 期 到 福 建参 加 了 福 建 省 青 年 摄 影 协 会 组 织 去莆 田 拍 摄 元 宵 游 行 的 摄 影 创 作 , 海 外 参 加 的 另 有 台 湾 一 位 好 友 , 台 湾 省 摄 影 学 会 的 名 誉 会 长 翁 庭 华 兄 . 我 于 2 月7 日 飞 抵 厦 门 . 福 建 青年 摄 影 协 会 主 席 潘 朝 阳 及 福 建 画 报 总 编 辑 胡 国 钦 已 安 排 厦 门青 年 摄 影协 会 的 主 席 朱 庆 福 和 陈 逸 到 机 场 接 机 . 朱 先 生 是 厦 门 日报 摄 影 部 主 任 , 看 来 很 活 跃 , 为 人 很 耿 直 .当 晚 就 由 他 们 安 排 在 厦 门 过 夜 . 晚 上 也 蒙 受 厦 门 文 学 艺 术 联 合 会 副 主 席 徐 里先 生 宴 请 . 请 见 纪 念 照 如 下 :
Compared to the past, I saw 2 differences: (a) in older times, most photographers are elderly (b) today, photography is no longer A professional, it exists in VARIOUS professionals.
照 片 (1) 席 间 都 是 朝 气 逢 勃 , 能 干 , 有 成 就 的 年 青 人 . 和 我 过 去 所 能 看 到 的有 两 点 不 同 : (一) 过 去 席 间 看 到 的 都 是 高 龄 的 ; ( 二) 如 今 席 间 看 到 的 都 各 在不 同商 场 的 执 业 人 才 , 摄 影 已 不 是专 业 .
The next morning, Mr Chen Yi and Mr Zhou Qing Fu picked me up where we headed to FuZhou. When passing by QuanZhou, I requested to visit HuaGuang Photographic School and Mr Wu Qi Cui who started up the school. I have not been there for about 1 or 2 years. When the school was first ingurated, I was invited as Honory Adviser. I really admired Mr Wu's patient and hardwork. With his effort, he has established this private photographic school from nothing until today's 4-storey building.
隔 日 一 早 陈 逸 与 朱 庆 福 就 用 车 载 我 往 福 州 路 程 奔 去 . 我 们 路 过 泉 州 时, 我 要 求 去 探 望 华 光 摄 影 技 术 学 校 , 和 拜 访 创 办 人 吴 其 萃 先 生 . 我 已 有 一 , 二 年 没 去 了 . 几 年 前 该 校 初 创 时 我 就 应 聘 为 该 校 为 名 誉 顾 问, 我 们 见 过 了 好 多 次 , 我 也 向 他 提 出 了 我 的 意 见 . 他 很 谦 虚 , 很 有 恒 心 , 一 心 一 意 要 把 学 校 办 好 . 真 是 不 简 单 ! 我 很 佩 服 吴 先 生 办 摄 影 学 校 的 奋 ? 精 神 . 一 所 私 人 办 的 摄 影 学 校 在 他 一个 人 的 孜 孜 不 倦 , 从 无 到 有 , 今 已 有 了 一 幢 四 层 楼 高 的 新 楼 房 . 令 我 敬 佩不 已 . 我 们 在 华 光 摄 影 技 术 学 校 听 取 吴 其 萃 的 校 务 报 告 , 以 及 未 来的 发 展 方 向 . 此 中 我 也 应 他 的 征 询 ,也 在 几 方面 表 示 了 我 的 意 见 . 总 结此 次 到 访 华 光 与 吴 先 生 的 一 席 谈 . 我 想 我 已 尽 了 责 任 . 心 理 也 就 感 到 欣 慰 !

We stayed at Hua Guang Art School for quite a while. It was already dusk when we reached FuZhou. Mr Yu heard about my arrival. Before I stepped into the hotel, he rushed with me to Dong Hu Hotel for Chinese New Year celebration organized by FuJian Province. There were four, five hundred people crowded in a big hall. The Master of Celebration purposely announced my visitation to FuJian and to the celebration. I was quite shocked about this...
我 们在 华 光 技 术 学 校 呆 了 好 久 才 继 续 动 身 上 路 . 我 们 抵 福 州 时 已 是傍 晚 , 福 建 省 文 联 秘 书 长 张 宇 老 友 听 到 我 已 到 ,未 进 旅 店, 就 拉 我 去 东 湖 宾 馆 参 加 福 建 省 文 学 界 新 春 联 欢会 . 据 说 出 席 这 联 欢 会 都 是 福 建 省 各 个 有 关 组 织 里 的 执 委 参 加 , 一 个 大 礼 堂 热 气 腾 腾 , 挤 满 了 四 五 百 人 . 入 席 后 , 联 欢 会 也 就 开 始 . 司 仪 在 大 会 开 始 时 也 特 别 提 起 我 这 位 受 宠 若 惊 的 " 来 宾 " .
As planned, on February 12th, Mr Hu Guo Qing, Mr Pan Chao Yang, Mr Chen Yang Shen, Mr Wu Shou Hua, Mr Zhu Qing Fu, Taiwan Weng Ting Hua and I headed to Pu Tian. Before I left to China, I expressed to Mr Hu Guo Qing that I would like to visit Mr Huang Jie Fu, who has gone back to FuJian to spend his golden years. Mr Huang is a popular photographer from Malaysia. Our ancestors were from Pu Tian. We are friends for years. Before he left to China, he lived in Malaysia, Kuching (Sarawak State). When our car reached FuQing, brother Guo Qing led the way to where Mr Huang lives.
2 月12 日 我 们 就 如 计 划 由 胡 国 钦 , 潘 朝 阳, 陈 扬 坤 (福 建 省 摄 影 家 协 会 秘 书 长 ) , 吴 寿 华 (福 建 省 青 年 摄 影 家 协 会 秘 书 长 ) , 朱 庆 福 以 及 台 湾 翁 庭 华 和 我 , 坐 面 包 车 向 莆 田 出 发 . 由 于 我 未 去 中 国 前 , 就 已 经 向 国 钦 兄 表 示 此 趟 一 ? 要 去 探 望 已 回 归 福 建 度 晚 年 的 黄 杰 夫 老 先 生 . 黄 杰 夫 先 生 是 位 驰 名 世 界 的 马 来 西 亚 的 老 摄 影 家 , 他 祖 籍 和 我 ?? 是 莆 田 人 . 我 们 是 老朋 友 .他 回 中 国 前 是 居 住 在 东 马 来 西 亚 名 叫 砂 劳 越 州 的 古 晋 ( KUCHING ,SARAWAK ). 车到 了 福 清 ,国 钦 兄 就 以 他 识 途 老 马 般 地 带 我 们 穿 街 走 巷 , 豪 不 费 功 夫 .
Mr Huang's niece answered the door when we reached the resident of Mr Huang. When we went upstairs, Mr Huang was seated at the living. There was no expression on his face. He seemed ill. Brother Guo Qing told him, "Mr Huang, I, Hu Guo Qing is here to see you!" Mr Huang stilled had no response. Mr Hu Guo Qing said again, "Mr Huang, Lim Kwong Ling is here to see you!" Suddenly, we heard "Oo". There was no further response after that. There after, I requested all to take a picture with Mr Huang Jie Fu.
我 们 到 了 黄 杰 夫 的 居 处 ,出 来 接 我 们 进 去 的 是 黄 先 生 的 侄 女 ,我 们 上 楼 时, 黄 先 生 就 已 坐 在 厅 上 的 长 椅 子 上 ,见 我 们 来 看 他 , 一 点 表 情 的 反 应 也 没 有 .看 去 是 病 态 样 子 . 国 钦 兄 向 黄 杰 夫 见 面 就 说 " 黄 先 生 , 我 胡 国 钦 来 看 您 ! " , 只 见 黄 先 生 痴 呆 地 毫 无 反 应 . 国 钦 兄 又 向 黄 先 生 说 : " 黄 先 生 , 林 光 霖 来 看 您 ! " , 忽 然 间 听 到 一 声 "喔 " , 再 就 没 有 反 应 了 . 之 后 ,我 要 求 大 家 和 黄 杰 夫 拍 一 张 记 念 照 .
